Rui Ferreira de Almeida is a senior associate at Abreu Advogados since 2022, working mainly in the areas of Projects and Structured Finance.
He has developed his practice in the follow-up of issues of international importance, such as and among others, the renewable energy sector, hydrogen, gases of renewable origin and Power-to-X projects, supported by technological innovations, or the environmentally responsible exploitation of natural resources.
He advises on project and project finance transactions, with multinational companies and in several jurisdictions.
He is also experienced in advising public and private entities in their efforts towards decarbonisation and sustainable development, either from an integrated environmental perspective or with recourse to decentralised renewable energy production and the constitution of Renewable Energy Communities.
He also served as advisor to the Deputy Minister and Secretary of State for Energy of the 22nd Government of the Republic of Portugal.
Experience

Advising multiple consortia selected to enter into financing agreements for the Agendas for Business Innovation, under the Recovery and Resilience Programme;

Advising various national and international investors and promoters on the design, licensing, implementation and divestment of industrial projects for the production of electricity and hydrogen from renewable energy sources;

Development of innovative contracting and financing model for a project to fight energy poverty, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme.
